When a colleague dies by suicide it's a shock for everyone.
As medical professionals it can be especially challenging to grieve, cope and move forward after a colleague dies by suicide.
How do we support each other, and ourselves, when we hear this kind of news about a colleague?
And what can we do to help doctors handle the enormous stress we’re working under, even in a system in crisis?
In this special edition Permission To Thrive webinar, we explore:
- How to cope when you hear shocking news about a colleague,
- Common thoughts, feelings and reactions when someone dies by suicide
- Helpful strategies to guide you through those first difficult weeks and months.
In a poll of 1,300 GPs across the UK by the Rebuild General Practice campaign, 1 in 4 GPs knew a colleague in their area who had died by suicide.
It might feel difficult to talk about this topic, but it’s important we do if we’re going to be able to fully support each other.
So please share this with anyone you know who would find it helpful.
