In high-pressure, high-stakes roles (like healthcare!) you can't afford to shy away from giving and receiving honest feedback.

Especially when it's awkward!

Avoiding difficult conversations drains your energy, focus and motivation and rapidly creates resentment in teams.

Everyone can see the "elephant in the room" and wishes SOMEONE would just deal with it.

But what if that "someone" is you?

Learn practical ways to give challenging feedback, handle difficult conversations, and manage yourself through the whole process.

UNDERSTAND why giving honest feedback and knowing how to handle awkward conversations is THE key to effective leadership and happy teams.

(And get some CPD along the way!)

LEARN some practical ways to give & receive difficult feedback without alienating people, and help your team handle conflict and criticism without turning toxic.

SHARE what you learn with your team, colleagues, trainees, leadership team... anyone who needs to have awkward conversations!

Awkward conversations feel hard.

They really didn't teach this stuff at Med School -  and you don't know how people will react to criticism or feedback - even when you know it's fair.

You work in a high-stakes role where mistakes can cost lives.

And mistakes and failure often feel like they are 'punished', yet you know that creating a workplace where people feel confident to speak up and spot risks is critical.

You're short on time but you can't continue to ignore the elephant in the room.

Everyone is overstreched and stressed, and this is just one more thing on your plate. You may know what to do in theory, but you need practical tools and techniques you can use NOW.

You want your team to work better together.

This isn't just CPD for you - you want to create a workplace where everyone has a voice and where bad behaviour isn't allowed to continue but having THAT conversation just seems so hard...

Giving honest feedback is hard.

🐸  You never know how people will react to performance management... or just honest reflection. Will they launch a grievance, take it personally, get emotional... or just up and leave?

🐸  With everything else on your plate, you don't have the bandwidth for the guilt that inevitably accompanies telling someone they need to improve (even when it's obvious to everyone)

🐸  Plus, most of the time, everyone's trying their best. It's not their fault that the system is so stretched. And when everyone's close to burnout, it feels risky to rock the boat and deliver criticism.

If you work in a high-pressure, high-stakes role (like healthcare!) this online event is designed specifically for you. Confirmed speakers so far are...

Dr. Rachel Morris
Host, You Are Not a Frog Podcast & Founder of the Shapes Toolkit

A former GP, Rachel is  passionate about helping doctors and other professionals in high stakes roles beat burnout and work happier. As host of the You Are Not a Frog podcast she talks to experts to discover their tips on managing stress and crafting a career you love. And as creator of the Shapes Toolkit she shares neuroscience-based, proven tools to help people working in high-pressure roles change how they work and support themselves and their teams.

Rachel will be talking about how healthcare teams can so quickly become dysfunctional and how to avoid the most common dysfunction - being TOO NICE and avoiding conflict.

Dr. Chris Turner
Consultant in Emergency Medicine & Founder of 'Civility Saves Lives'

Chris is a consultant in emergency medicine at the University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire.

He co-founded Civility Saves Lives with Joe Farmer, a grassroots organisation dedicated to raising awareness of the impact of behaviour on performance.

"When we condone rudeness in our teams, we accept poorer outcomes for our patients."

Chris will be talking about how to challenge unhelpful, rude or even aggressive behaviour in a way which the other person may even thank you for!

Jane Gunn
Mediator and Author

Jane Gunn – also known as the “Barefoot Mediator” – works with people in times of change, challenge, and crisis.

She uses her skills, tools, and mindset as a mediator not only in legal and commercial disputes, but also in everyday life situations.

She helps people navigate their way through life transitions and changes, and she has recently written a book called The Mole and the Mountain to make this process more approachable.

Dr Sarah Coope
Medical facilitator, mediator coach and educator

Sarah qualified as a doctor in 1998 and has experience in clinical, facilitation, mediation, coaching and leadership roles in healthcare.

She worked as a GP for 20yrs and, during the last 15yrs, gained a wide range of skills and competencies through developing and delivering communication and professional skills training for doctors.

Sarah will present a practical framework for managing yourself and having that difficult conversation when the buck stops with you, and you're terrified of the reaction you'll get.
