Right now, this is what being a 'safe pair of hands' in healthcare actually looks like in reality:
Hours spent firefighting urgent problems where 'the buck stops with you', and you feel responsible to do it all.
Trying to meet the targets that feel impossible to reach whilst supporting your overstretched team.
Having a pervasive sense of guilt - either you feel you're letting colleagues down, or your loved one. You can't win.
Even if you worked 24/7, you know you still wouldn't get to the bottom of your to-do list - there's always 'one more thing.
You know you're spread too thin, but if you walk away or don't jump in, no one else will do what needs to be done.
In this masterclass, youâll learn new ways for senior leaders and healthcare professionals to protect their time and energy in an overwhelmed system.
Learn a practical model for putting down what was never yours to carry
Â
THIS MASTERCLASS IS FOR YOU, IF YOU:
â
Lead others alongside a demanding clinical or professional role
Youâre already carrying a full workload. You didnât set out to absorb everyone elseâs problems too, but somehow they keep landing with you.
â
Work in a high-stakes environment where saying no feels risky
Patient care, targets, team morale, and professional reputation. When the consequences feel high, it can feel safer to take it on yourself, even when youâre exhausted.
â
Know something has to change, but donât want to become âless caringâ
You still care deeply about your work and your people. Youâre just looking for a way to work that doesnât require constant self-sacrifice.

"Thanks so much for the amazing shapes toolkit webinars. Our leaders are thoroughly enjoying them so far, and they are generating lots of healthy discussion between team members around strengthening our resilience and structure moving forward."

"If you keep honouring promises by breaking yourself, you eventually become unreliable anyway, because your capacity will just collapse."Â
Â
Hello - I'm Dr Rachel Morris -Â former GP, Executive Coach, host of the You Are Not A Frog podcast and founder of Wild Monday.
For years, I lived the "superhero" pattern - unconsciously taking on everything, fixing problems that weren't mine to fix, and believing that if I didn't do it, who would? I was effective, reliable, and completely unsustainable. The hard work ethic that got me to senior roles was now pushing me toward burnout.
Training as a coach helped me understand something crucial: I wasn't burning out because I was doing too much. I was burning out because I was unconsciously choosing to carry what was never mine to carry. This wasn't about working harder or being more resilient - it was about making conscious choices about my capacity and resources.
Now I help senior healthcare leaders break this same pattern. Through live training, online courses, and the You Are Not a Frog podcast, I've shared these tools with thousands of doctors and professionals in high-stakes leadership roles.
My mission? To help you ditch the superhero mindset, lead sustainably, and thrive - without sacrificing the career you've worked so hard to build.
"Many doctors and senior healthcare professionals think we have to be superheroes to do our jobs. That's how being overstretched becomes our chronic normal."
Hello! - Iâm Dr Sarah Coope -Â Director of Training at Wild Monday.Â
Knowing what to do isn't the same as actually doing it when you've unconsciously trained yourself to keep pushing beyond your capacity. As a mediator and conflict specialist, I've watched brilliant, capable leaders reach breaking point - not because they weren't good enough, but because they couldn't stop taking on "default responsibility." The unconscious habit of picking up tasks that were never explicitly theirs. The belief that if they didn't do it, no one else would. And the resulting conflicts, complaints and career-ending burnout.
In high-pressure healthcare environments, the most effective leaders often carry the heaviest invisible burdens.
As a coach, I've learned that sustainable leadership isn't about doing more or being tougher. It's about consciously choosing what to carry and what to put down. It's about managing your resources - time, energy, and attention - so you can focus on what actually moves the needle.
My goal is to help senior leaders recognise the "impossible choices" that aren't actually impossible - so you can build something sustainable instead of just surviving the next crisis.
What healthcare professionals say about the Shapes Toolkit
"They really get what it's like working in the NHS in a high-stress job."
âAs a busy GP/ PCN CD The Shapes Academy has been absolutely brilliant.
I feel much more in control over my âNHS overwhelmâ. Best for me is the prioritisation grid. I plan time for the things important to me, and that includes my non-work interests, which I find I am now doing more and more of since putting âshapesâ into my daily practice.
Rachel and the team just get what it is like working in the NHS in a high-stress job. The meetings with them feel safe and personal, and in the breakout rooms, listening to how other people are doing, it is very normalising and reassuring.
Iâd recommend this if you just feel too busy and drained, you are saying yes to everything, and never have time to look after yourself.
Iâd give this a 5-star rating in every way and am so glad I signed up. Thank you."
Laura - GP
"I'm better at managing my time, better at saying no - and I don't feel so guilty."
"One of my colleagues went off with burnout - it could have happened to any of us. When I talked to my GP, they were supportive, but their advice was basically "the next step is to take time off". But I really wanted to try and do something other than that.
I've always wanted to do something that helps our whole team rather than just me. So I asked my work to fund a place for me at the Shapes Academy.
It rescued me last year, I have to say.
What worked best for me was having a little bit every month, that regular drip feed. Now, I'm better at managing my time. I'm better at saying no. And I'm much better at scheduling time to do non-work things, and I don't feel so guilty about doing it.
It should be part of our mandatory training."
Jayne - Consultant Physician
"I'm now working 9-5 - and not thinking about work when I'm at home!"
"I used to wake at 3 am worrying about my workload, with constant interruptions from the team for me to solve problems, meaning delays to my time-critical work.
Accounts and associated business costs, wages and CCG claims were left right until the last minute, meaning additional stress for me, working late and at weekends.
Having discovered the Shapes Toolkit, I'm now working 9-5 and never checking emails in between. I'm confident the team are handling everything and is empowered to make decisions and take action, knowing what the priorities are. I'm not thinking about work when I'm at home!"
Helen - Practice Manager
"I was prepared and calm!"
âTwo weeks ago, we covered the prioritisation grid in the toolkit. As a result, I set time in my calendar to prepare for today's talk and set a timer to ensure I didn't find something else to do whilst I was prepping. As a result, it went really well today, I was prepared, calm and even had time to consider getting a relative to join me to share their story, so thank you. I'm not keen on preparation, I often wing it, but I've learnt that practice and preparation are key to success! â

"Valuable reminder as to how to avoid feeling overwhelmed in the current NHS climate - where workload is increasing and the expectation is to deliver more with reduced resources."

"The zone of power has really helped me"
"Talking with others with similar experiences... has kept me going the last 2 years. I accept that the system won't get better, but I want to try so that my local hospital is a great place to be a patient when I am retired (not too many years away).
The zone of power has really helped me recently. A challenge that seemed insurmountable and outside my ZoP actually contained lots of small things that individually were in my ZoP, and tacking it that way meant it's now sorted."
